The C2RCC processor is an Open Source development, which is a component of the Sentinel-3 Toolbox and fully integrated with ESA’s Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP). Besides data from Sentinel-3 OLCI, C2RCC can process data from Sentinel-2 MSI, MERIS, VIIRS, MODIS, SeaWiFS, and Landsat-8 OLI. In recent years, the development of C2RCC has benefitted a lot from community feedback and contributions by various scientists and from collaborative work on various international projects. Since the beginning of 2022, the development and evolution of C2RCC is an unfunded activity fully entrusted to the water colour community, driven and maintained by Brockmann Consult Germany, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Brockmann Geomatics Sweden, and Ocean Obs Norway.
The C2RCC developer and user community resources are integrated into the infrastructure provided by the ESA Scientific Toolbox Exploitation Platform (STEP). STEP is the community platform for accessing the Toolbox software and its documentation, communicating with the developers, dialoguing within the science community, promoting results and achievements as well as providing tutorials and material for training scientists using the Toolboxes. In particular, the ESA Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP) and Sentinel Toolboxes include the C2RCC processor, and the public code repository of the ESA Sentinel-3 Toolbox includes the source code of the C2RCC processor.
